Welcome to my Virtual Life
I am a senior woman living in the United States in a small rural town. I am engaged to a man currently living in Canada. We met online first in August of 2024 and were friends for five months before becoming partners online. We had a virtual marriage ceremony in Alternate Metaverse after becoming partners in Second Life. We met in real life in May of 2025 for the first time and spent time in real life later that year. I have a few really good friends here in my town and family several hours away. The internet allows me to explore my creativity as well as spend time with the man I love.
I live in several of the Virtual Worlds available online. “As of March 2026, Second Life has a total of 26,911 regions and approximately 70,025,402 registered accounts.” Alternate Metaverse on the OpenGrid has 5,555 registered users as of May 5, 2026.
So I am not alone in this Virtual Life, although I have not been visiting about very much.
My partner/fiance’ and I go dancing a lot as well as maintain our various properties and homes.

1. Why would you want to live in a virtual world?
1. At some point, all human bodies wear out, and I want to feel that I have some kind of a life left at that point.
2. It allows me to have the idea of things inworld (multiple homes, the ability to ice skate, fly, etc) that are not possible in the real world.
3. What are your favorite activities inworld?
Dancing is our favorite activity, although for me, landscaping and decorating run a close second. We dance in several places, although Fogbound Blues Club in SL is our favorite – it is where we met.
2. How much property do you own inworld?
In Second Life (SL) I have a 2048m parcel, plus renting a quarter region. In AMV, I own two 5×5 region sections, and my partner/fiance’ has one.
4. Don’t you think the real world is better?
It can be, but I live in a tiny old house that is falling apart, and my love lives in another country most of the year. When he’s here, real life is much more enjoyable. But when he’s not, I prefer to be with him online.
