Bought another island

So I purchased another island in 2nd life today, because it was adjacent to my Beach home. Seems like every time I buy one the next day or so, there’s another parcel up for sale. Going to have to sell or start renting out parcels soon! lol

I am reminded that I wanted to start learning how to create stuff. So I downloaded Blender, that I started learning how to use once before – years ago. I’m restarting of course, but I need to figure these things out.

I design homes in Minecraft and I’m thinking about porting those over to Second Life designs. But I need to keep the number of prims down. What I used to do, (I designed a house to look like my old mobile home) was to just use simple walls and make inside and outside drawings and then use those as “faces” where you could see in the windows where I drew alpha rectangles. I tried to make an apartment building by stacking those – It worked pretty well until I got to the elevator portion. I tried buying an elevator to use to take people to front doors — but for some reason it got wonky. I don’t remember why, exactly.

The other thing I ran into is that I couldn’t figure out to exactly attach one prim to another. I would thing I had it attach but up close there always seemed to be a gap, no matter how close I got it. Maybe things have changed now. I do know how to do rez scripts so everything materializes together now.

So this house is what I want to learn how to build.

It’s in my Minecraft world currently. But I’d like to build it in 2L and do the inside with furnishings like I can’t really do in Minecraft, without texture mods. Anyway I really enjoy it in Minecraft – it would be neat to have it in 2L.

Well I need to catalogue my parcels, so that’s it for this update.
